Hilton Bonnet Creek

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hilton Bonnet Creek in Orlando, while attending BlogHer17.  And I must say that it was a pleasure!  I had a wonderful room that not only overlooked the pool, but I could see Disney World and the nightly Disney fireworks display.  As a person who LOVES fireworks, this was definitely a bonus for me.  From the lazy rive and water slide in the pool area, to the pool bar and restaurant with excellent food, my stay at the Hilton Bonnet Creek was amazing.

From check-in to check-out the Hilton Bonnet Creek provided a great time during the weekend.  One of things that rated Hilton Bonnet Creek higher for me was the exceptional customer service.  Upon arrival, I was early, my room was not ready, I was allowed to leave my bags with the Bellmen while I went to the adjacent Waldorf Astoria Spa for a pedicure and a little bit of relaxation in their Tea Room.  While walking back to the Hilton, I managed to cut my foot and upon the realization, the staff provided me with band-aids and asked repeatedly, if I was ok or needed anything additional.  They even had security to bring be triple antibiotic ointment.

The first day there was a long travel day and I was able to go out to the poolside bar Beech, where I had an awesome salad as well as a Hibiscus Margarita, which was AMAZING!  While I would have loved to have spent some time on the hotel’s lazy river, I never got a chance to experience that Beech was not my only option,  The Myth Bar was a lifesaver open 24 hours it offered not only a great selection of cocktails, the food was pretty good as well.  Zeta, the Asian themed restaurant offered a daily happy hour with $5.00 sushi and discounted wine.  I guess there is no wonder I can home with a few extra pounds to work off.

Not only was the Hilton Bonnet Creek a great spot for the BlogHer17 Conference, It was a great spot for families as well.  Many of the conference attendees came with their families and the hotel provided plenty for the families to engage in while we attended the conference.  There was even an on-site game room as well as scheduled shuttles to all of the Disney attractions.  How convenient.  I definitely plan to return to the Orlando area and stay at the Hilton Bonnet Creek again.

I Love Me

Love your body

As I was browsing through Facebook today I came across a question that said “do you love your body?”   It made me think about what I feel about my body.  My body and I are going through some changes.  Almost a year ago I had weight loss surgery.  It was a difficult decision to make and it was and continues to be one of the most difficult yet rewarding things I have ever done.  I have seen and heard all of the arguments about surgery being an easy way out or a quick fix but that is one of the biggest lies every told.  If anyone every wonders how easy it is I welcome them to watch my 600 lb. life.

My 600lb life

While not everyone is 600 lbs. and up, obesity in this country is a reality for far too many people.  So while I was never 600 pounds, this show can give those who don’t know the struggle or the journey a glimpse into what it is like to live with obesity and the process of having weight loss surgery which is an all too often long and tedious process.

body acceptance

So back to the question at hand do I love my body?  The honest answer is that it is a struggle.  There are some days when I love my body, the curves, the scars, the imperfections and then there are days where it seems that every flaw is magnified.  I can honestly answer that I LIKE my body and each day I am growing closer to loving it.  This has been a long process.  There was once a time when I HATED my body.  I am happy that I can now say that 90% of the time the response is more positive than negative.

What about you?  How do you feel about your body?  Do you like it, love it or loathe it?
