The Captain comes to Chicago

Recently I was able to hang out with Captain Morgan compliments of #chicagogrammers.  It was wonderful fall weather at Joy District and the event was held on their beautiful rooftop.  There was good music, great drinks and an amazing atmosphere.  The purpose of the event was to sample the new Captain Morgan fall flavor Apple Smash.  It was a good time with some really, really good drinks.

My favorite drink of the night was the Captain Morgan Apple Smash and Ginger ale.  The combination of the apple and ginger made for a tasty cocktail and a great choice for a fall adult beverage.  Below are some of the other drinks the mixologist prepared for the event.

One of my favorite things about the drinks were that they were served in little plastic green apples, a great way to introduce the concept while providing an visually appealing way to enjoy your cocktail.

What would a rooftop party be without food, music, a photo booth and a visit by the Captain himself?

Mommy & Mimosas

This past Sunday May 20, 2018, I had the pleasure of being the panel moderator at the Mommy & Mimosas event hosted by Nisha Hopkins, of Pretty in Power Coaching Agency and the Mogul Mom Society.  The day was filled with sisterhood, a dynamic panel, good food, vendors and of course mimosas.  The women were able to share, ask questions engage each other and learn from one another.

The panel included women who were entrepreneurs, authors, professionals all of them moms.  The panelist and guest were able to engage a variety of topics and questions from dating as a single mom, to how to support your partner while you both chase your dreams.  There were also moms in attendance who has lost children, and they too opened up and shared their stories as well.

Nisha did a fantastic job of celebrating moms but also creating an atmosphere of sisterhood and an environment conducive to support, encouragement and growth.  Even though I am not a mom, I could still relate to the issues and struggles that many of the women faced.  The conversation flowed, the mimosas flowed and at times the tears flowed.  It was an amazing day and a get demonstration of how African American women can come together, support, uplift and encourage each other.  Nisha’s next mommy event coming October 2018.
