My Favorite Movie

favorite movie

It is hard to pick a movie that I would watch over and over for the next ten years.  So since this is my blog I will narrow it down to my top three.  My top three movies are Grease, Home Alone and the Wizard of Oz.  While each of these movies are extremely different one thing that they have in common is that they are all feel good movies for me.

There is something about the love story that transpires in Grease that makes my heart melt.  I enjoy singing along and Danny and Sandy along with the dancing is just what is needed after a hard day or a rough week.  Knowing that in the end the guy gets the girl or the girl gets the guy is the ultimate feel good movie. Recently I attended a sing-a-long at our  local symphony where we watched the movie and sang along  popcorn and props.

The next movie in my top three is Home Along.  Another feel good movie I love this movie because it can always make me laugh.  Though it mostly comes on repeatedly during the holidays, anytime this movie comes on I sit and wait for the little guy to take on the bad guys.  There is nothing like seeing the bad guys get hustled and hassled by a little boy.

Rounding out the top three of my favorite movies is The Wizard of Oz.  Again a movie that makes you feel good, but I don’t know if it is the magical land of Oz, the flying monkeys or the ability to see each of the participants find what they feel they are in search of.  Interestingly enough when I read the book, it was much better to me than the movie.

Movies can transport you into another time and space,  For the time that you engross yourself in the lives and stories of others you can forget about your problems and your world and your concerns and know that before the movie ends everything will be back in perfect order.  Wouldn’t it be great if real life were like that?

Restaurant Week is Coming

If you live in or near Chicago (like I do), then you may or may not be aware that Restaurant week is coming.  This year Chicago Restaurant Week will be January 30-February 12.  as you can see this is a little more than a week.  This is a time of year when you can experience some of the best and finest dining and restaurants in the Chicago area for a fraction of the price.  Most restaurants during this week have a Prix Fixe Menu for lunch and dinner and offer several courses for a significantly reduced price.

This is the perfect opportunity to broaden your palate and allow your taste buds to live on the wild side.  I love the opportunity to experience different cuisine as well as different cultural offerings.  I am not that adventurous and won’t go too far off of the deep end but I do enjoy a great meal.  Restaurant week is the perfect opportunity to rekindle the romance, meet up with the girls or treat yourself to a meal by yourself. This is also the perfect opportunity (if dining with others) to mix and match and try what your friends may have ordered.

My friends and I have definitely taken advantage of the Chicago Restaurant Week offerings,  We have each picked places we wanted to go but for whatever reason never made it there.  The fact that your are 5 star dining on a 2 star budget helps. The surprising part for me was that most restaurants we chose were not crowded and the there was little So plan your night out, chooses what you want to eat and bon appetite!
