My Favorite Movie

favorite movie

It is hard to pick a movie that I would watch over and over for the next ten years.  So since this is my blog I will narrow it down to my top three.  My top three movies are Grease, Home Alone and the Wizard of Oz.  While each of these movies are extremely different one thing that they have in common is that they are all feel good movies for me.

There is something about the love story that transpires in Grease that makes my heart melt.  I enjoy singing along and Danny and Sandy along with the dancing is just what is needed after a hard day or a rough week.  Knowing that in the end the guy gets the girl or the girl gets the guy is the ultimate feel good movie. Recently I attended a sing-a-long at our  local symphony where we watched the movie and sang along  popcorn and props.

The next movie in my top three is Home Along.  Another feel good movie I love this movie because it can always make me laugh.  Though it mostly comes on repeatedly during the holidays, anytime this movie comes on I sit and wait for the little guy to take on the bad guys.  There is nothing like seeing the bad guys get hustled and hassled by a little boy.

Rounding out the top three of my favorite movies is The Wizard of Oz.  Again a movie that makes you feel good, but I don’t know if it is the magical land of Oz, the flying monkeys or the ability to see each of the participants find what they feel they are in search of.  Interestingly enough when I read the book, it was much better to me than the movie.

Movies can transport you into another time and space,  For the time that you engross yourself in the lives and stories of others you can forget about your problems and your world and your concerns and know that before the movie ends everything will be back in perfect order.  Wouldn’t it be great if real life were like that?

Perpetual Reading

Four AgreementsA

As I mentioned in an earlier posts I have eclectic taste.  I am not just a non-fiction reader or a fiction reader.  I enjoy GOOD reading whether it is a classic or whether it is something else.  When I first read the Four Agreements, I went out and bought copies for my family.  I shared the book with my friends and every chance I go I used the book as teaching material or as a topic of conversation.  I figured that a book this good needed to be shared with everyone I love.  The material in the book was profound yet simple, complex yet necessary.  While I will not share what the agreements mean in detail I will let you all in on what the agreements are.

Fouragreementsdefined

As I read the book I recall thinking how simple these concepts were yet how difficult they were to institute into daily living.  At different points in my life I struggled with each of these concepts and how to apply them to the way I lived daily.  As much as I try there are times when I still struggle to live by these principles.  But I then realize that life is a struggle and that each day is an opportunity to start over and get it right.  As much as I embrace the words as they are written here, they are biblical as well.

I hope you all read The Four Agreements and I pray that they touch your life as much as these agreements touched mine.  You will often find this book in the list of must reads from many famous people around the world. There is even a Fifth Agreement which ties the pervious agreements together.  Happy reading and happy implementing the agreements into your daily life.
