Sound Off Sunday

Wow!  We are entering the third week of this year.  Already!  It seems that just a few days ago it was New Year’s Eve and we were thinking about what new resolutions or changes we were going to make for the coming year.  And now in the blink of an eye it is now three weeks later.  Where did the time go?

No matter where the time went.  One thing is for sure, it is not coming back.  So there is nothing left to do but make the best of the rest and keep moving forward.  Just yesterday one of my co workers spent her last day working with us.  She is moving on to a new job, new location.  While I think she delayed leaving for as long as she could the change was inevitable.  She accepted the offer of the new job and so her new opportunity awaits.

How many of us are waiting for the next opportunity to come to us?  How many of us are just sitting back and waiting for something to smack us in the face or on the ass to motivate us to do what we already know we need to do.  How many of us are holding on to our dreams and or visions only to watch them pass us by or even worse to watch someone else benefit from our hard work and effort?  More often than not we send so much time waiting and not enough time moving that by the time we move, it is too late.

What are you waiting for?  What is it that you need to do or change or fix?  What things are waiting for you if you would only take that next step?  How long are you willing to sit by while life happens around you and not to you?   No more for me.  I am ready for the Year of Yes and I am pleased so far at my progress.  While there is more to come and more to do and more to see, I am happy that I decided that this year my Yes would beat out my No!

Winding Down

As 2014 comes to an end, I think that it is important to reflect on all that has happened and what’s to come.  First of all I would like to thank all of my readers for taking this journey with me.  Blogging was a lot more work than I originally thought.  To all of those who started the year with me and attended the launch party you help and support are invaluable to me.  Words cannot express my gratitude for your support of my vision.

These past few months I have been MIA, which is not a good look for the blog.  However most of it was time well spent working on my dissertation and researching and reading and working my regular gig.  I have successfully defended my dissertation proposal and now it is time to move forward conducting research completing the project and graduating!  I see light at the end of the tunnel finally.  This will be a huge chunk off of my plate.

I had such grand and great ideas for the This Single Sole community.  See for me the purpose of this blog was not just to build a blog but to build a community and place where women could discuss and share life’s events and ordeals one week at a time.  And while I did not accomplish this task 2015 provides me with 365 more days to do it and do it big.  I have already started planning and the future looks bright.

I look forward to the next chapter of This Single Sole.  I look forward to the events and the blogs and the sharing.  I look forward to coming back with a bang.  The first event will be a re-launch party scheduled for the end of February.  Since the first one occurred on a super snowy day, prayerfully February will be gracious to me next year and the weather will be mild and accommodating,  So I hope everyone has a happy and safe New Year and I look forward to growing with you all next year.
