Chicago Food Journey #1

It is very rare that I am out in the town on a Tuesday night.  For the past few years I have been swamped with dissertation research and writing.  Now that that chapter is closing it is time to move on and get out and enjoy life.  Tonight I decided to partake in Sib’s Breakfast Club’s May dining experience.  Tonight was the kick-off and what a great kick off it was.  I was able to wear my Natural Brown Sugar shirt compliments of Sensationally Nappy.  Get yours here.  I love the shirt and more importantly, I love my curves.

Tonight I had the pleasure of having dinner at The Burger Point in Chicago’s South Loop.  The gathering sponsored by Sib’s Breakfast Club, founded by Sibyl Holloway.  The Burger Point located at the intersection of Archer, 19th and State streets in Chicago’s South Loop is a great place for a great meal.  The location is quaint, however the food is amazing.  There are only a few places I can think of in Chicago that have burgers that make you want to come back for more and this is one of those places.

Burger Point has been featured on Chicago’s Best.  Now under new ownership, hopefully they will be featured again.  I ordered a cheese burger and sweet potato fries.  All of the food is cooked to order, so what you get is hot fresh food,, not anything sitting under heat lamps for unknown amounts of time.  The sweet potato fries needed no condiments, which is my benchmark of good fires, and the burger was cooked to perfection.  They have just about any topping you could wish for to accompany your burger, and this includes choice of bread.  There is the option for a hamburger, turkey burger, chicken burger and even a veggie burger for those who want options.  This is definitely a place that I would frequent, the food, the staff and the atmosphere were great.  My burger was phenomenal and the hand cut sweet potato fries, there were not words.

During the month of May Sib’s Breakfast Club will be highlighting more restaurants and small business.  I plan to go out and experience as many of these places as I can if tonight’s choice was any indication of what the rest of the month will be like I need to make sure I am on the treadmill everyday.  Check out the link above to find out what other places Sib’s Breakfast Club will be taking us to this month.  I look forward to seeing you there!

The Journey Continues….

TSS_2016

My research post was about how I came up with my research topic for my dissertation.  Once I began compiling my research and my statistics, all of the information was leading to information overload for me.  While, I did not know much about blogging, I felt that starting a blog could help me begin to process the tons of information that was coming in.

This is how This Single Sole came into being.  I made a generic introductory video about all of these great ideas I had to make This Single Sole into a community, however that hasn’t happened yet.  (Stay tuned).  But it has been a fantastic creative outlet.  As much as I learned about single, professional African American women, I learned about blogging.  Blogging has provided much more than a creative outlet.  It has opened up an entirely different world for me.  Now that my educational journey has come to an end, it is time to really embrace the world of blogging and time to make my blog everything I desire for it to be.

Look out for what’s to come!

Stay Blessed, Stay Fabulous!
