Welcome to This Single Sole. My name is Sharice. I am currently completing my EdD degree in Counseling Psychology where my area of research is the lives of single, professional, African American, Christian women. What my research has demonstrated is that women globally share many common experiences no matter age, race, sexual orientation, religious afficiation or marital status. Those common experiences were the impetus for starting this blog.

More than a blog, This Single Sole is a forum, a conversational area where we can come together as women and share, learn and grow together. This forum is not meant to be exclusive. Single women have a great deal to learn from their married counterparts. This conversation is also inclusive of the LGBT community as well as divorced or widowed women as well. There are experiences that bond us all as women and This Single Sole will be a place where these experiences will be discussed and shared. So please be encouraged to share this forum with your friends and other women in your lives.

This Single Sole also recognizes the importance of generational dialogue. There is a great deal to be learned from the generations of women that have paved the way for us. I anticipate these dialogues to be mutually beneficial.

This blog is written from my perspective. I am not the official ‘spokesperson’ for all single women, nor do I claim to be or want to be. Having lived my life as a woman that has never been married, I do however have a great deal of insight into living life as a single woman. I have a unique perspective and a distinctive voice that give me great insight that I plan to share with women globally.

In addition to this blog there will be several events planned throughout the year. These events will include the official launch party (Saturday January 18, 2014-see the events page for more information), a Stiletto SociTea party, Girls Night Out at the game, Mar-Ti-Ni night, workshops and conferences. There will also be e-book and other promotional materials available. This Single Sole is a global movement so there may be activities offered in other cities as well. The purpose of these activities will be to celebrate ourselves and our lives. It is my sincere desire that these events will allow us to meet new people, engage our interests in a supportive environment, and lift each other up as we grow and thrive.

The website will also be a useful tool that will incorporate a “Members Only” area, where members will gain access to exclusive events, advanced copies of e-books as well as special gifts. I am looking forward to taking this journey with each of you.

As we move along this journey please feel free to communicate with me and provide your feedback, your ideas for topics and or events or anything else you would like to see incorporated within this community.
