Sound Off Sunday

Wow!  We are entering the third week of this year.  Already!  It seems that just a few days ago it was New Year’s Eve and we were thinking about what new resolutions or changes we were going to make for the coming year.  And now in the blink of an eye it is now three weeks later.  Where did the time go?

No matter where the time went.  One thing is for sure, it is not coming back.  So there is nothing left to do but make the best of the rest and keep moving forward.  Just yesterday one of my co workers spent her last day working with us.  She is moving on to a new job, new location.  While I think she delayed leaving for as long as she could the change was inevitable.  She accepted the offer of the new job and so her new opportunity awaits.

How many of us are waiting for the next opportunity to come to us?  How many of us are just sitting back and waiting for something to smack us in the face or on the ass to motivate us to do what we already know we need to do.  How many of us are holding on to our dreams and or visions only to watch them pass us by or even worse to watch someone else benefit from our hard work and effort?  More often than not we send so much time waiting and not enough time moving that by the time we move, it is too late.

What are you waiting for?  What is it that you need to do or change or fix?  What things are waiting for you if you would only take that next step?  How long are you willing to sit by while life happens around you and not to you?   No more for me.  I am ready for the Year of Yes and I am pleased so far at my progress.  While there is more to come and more to do and more to see, I am happy that I decided that this year my Yes would beat out my No!

The Year of Yes!

YEear of yeS

As I reflected on the past year, I decided that 2015 was a year of a lot of no’s in my life.  There were so many things that happened, the good, the and the ugly, that by the time December rolled around I was just waiting for my fresh start.  Right after Thanksgiving, I went to see Frankie Beverly and Maze and Chaka Khan concert.  During the show, while Frankie was singing Happy Feelings, I made up my mind that that was what I wanted 2016 to be.

Not only would “Happy Feelings” be my theme song for 2016, but for me 2016 would be the Year of Yes!  For most of my life, I made cautious decisions, I always needed to consider the what if’s and most of the time this meant that I missed out on opportunities and other advantages.   allowed fear and doubt to govern my decisions.  Those days are over.

Before the year ended I made two decisions that took me completely out of my comfort zone.  Those decisions were not life of death decisions but they allowed me experiences I may not have had before I embraced The Year of Yes.

So I sent my closest friends a text decided that we were going to read the book individually and collectively spend the year living out our Year of Yes.  I am looking forward to what that means for me.  I am looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that will come my way.  I anticipate what will happen in my life.  I have already seen great advantages from stepping out of my comfort zone and I plan to do more this year.  So here’s to “Happy Feelings” while living our Year of Yes!

Stay Fabulous and Stay Blessed!
